Detroit Electric appoints ex-Lotus Engineering boss as CEO E-mail
Detroit Electric, which is re-launching a century-old electric car brand in the U.S. as a collaboration between ZAP and China Youngman Automotive Group, has appointed Albert Lam, former CEO of Lotus Engineering, as its CEO. Mr. Lam had recently accepted the job as the chairman of the company, but this latest appointment will be full time. "I'm excited to be given this opportunity to devote all my time, experience and energy to fulfill the great promise of Detroit Electric," said Mr. Lam. "I was instrumental during the planning and formulation stage of the company and now we have a solid five-year business plan and 10-year vehicle product plan. Detroit Electric is well positioned to move to the implementation phase.” A British national and graduate of Coventry University where he earned an MSc in robotics and manufacturing, Albert Lam served as the CEO of Lotus Engineering from 2003 to late 2007, as well as Executive Director for Lotus Group International between 2003 and 2006. He also has experience in the computer industry. Detroit Electric is a joint venture company formed between the 13-year-old US electric car company ZAP and China's China Youngman Automotive Group to encompass then manufacturing, marketing, distribution and sales of pure electric vehicles including buses, coaches and passenger cars. Detroit Electric was the most popular electric car in history and the longest running electric car company, which operated between 1907 and 1939 in Detroit. source: www.detroit-electric.com
